Mary Elizabeth Smith Small Williams

Mary was born 12 June 1884 in Elkton, Todd, Kentucky, the daughter of John William Smith and Jennie Ella Mobley.




Mary's first husband was Perry Small, who was born in November 1884 in Elkton. They were married 2 October 1907, and within the year moved to San Francisco, California. Perry worked as a railroad clerk.

Mary and Perry had one son, McLean, who was born 11 September 1908 in San Francisco. Shortly afterward, Mary and Perry divorced. They both stayed in San Francisco.

About 1922, Mary married Edwin A. Williams, a tailor, who was born about 1884 in New York state. Mary's son McLean Small lived with them in San Francisco and in 1930, at age 18, was working as an installer for a telephone company.

On 18 Jun 1941, McLean enlisted in the United States Army in San Francisco. At that time he had attended college for one year, and was single and without dependents. He was five feet, nine inches tall.

McLean died 24 March 1986 in Sonoma, Sonoma, California.
